Mass Effect trilogy remaster will not be happening, focusing on Andromeda: EA exec

Mass Effect: Andromeda is an upcoming action role-playing third-person shooter video game developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Electronic Arts has finally confirmed that the Mass Effect trilogy remaster will not be pushing through at all after several months of teasing its fans that it might be possible in the first place.

Peter Moore, the EA executive who teased a possible remaster, confirmed in an interview that there will be no Mass Effect trilogy remaster especially now as they are preparing for the Mass Effect: Andromeda release in 2017.

Activision has pushed for the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare remastered version that will come with the Infinite Warfare release in a couple of months. Mass Effect fans have since then clamored for a similar remaster of the first three games in the series.

Moore told IGN in an interview that they want to "focus on the future" and that a Mass Effect trilogy remaster will not be pushing through at all, Eurogamer has learned. In addition, Moore said that they do not have development teams ready to develop the said remaster.

There is certainly enough demand for the remaster to push through but EA seems stubborn enough not to go with the decision. Mass Effect: Andromeda has already been delayed and diverting their resources to making a trilogy remaster could result in another possible release date push back.

BioWare has already hinted at the Mass Effect trilogy several years ago but EA could be forcing their hand to focus on Andromeda instead. Moore said that EA is the type of company that "likes to push forward," VG247 reported.

EA is aware that they can make a quick buck by releasing the Mass Effect trilogy remaster. However, Moore said that EA wants to take the many opportunities ahead of them by releasing new IPs and franchises instead of having to milk any of their existing ones.

Moore even said that there is "easy money" in the industry but they want to focus on "player-first" experiences. Mass Effect: Andromeda is expected to blow ME fans away with an updated engine and a new plot that will see a new protagonist besides Shepard who helmed the last three games from Bioware.
