Capcom seems to be starting to move things around as they want to be the best video game developer across the globe which means they will have to tackle different genres as well.

One of their most popular IPs is Street Fighter which is still popular across all ages even if it is already several decades old. They have released countless games based on the IP with the recent one being Street Fighter V.

They are also reinventing their Resident Evil franchise after years of butchering it by turning it into more of an action game compared to the actual horror title that it should be. Capcom Head of Consumer Games Development said in their newest annual report that they need to "take on new challenges" by expanding their content in order to become the number one developer in the world, GameZone has learned.

Egawa said in the report: " Going forward, as we aim to become the world's number one game developer, we feel that while it is of course necessary to advance and expand upon existing content, it is also necessary to take on new challenges."

With that strategy in mind, Capcom could be developing more shooters and strategy games. Capcom said that they cannot ignore shooting and strategy games especially as there is a massive number of fans looking for such titles, PCGamesN reported.

The company did not announce yet if they plan to introduce new IPs but that seems to be their next move considering that their current IPs are not suited for the said genres. Dead Rising is a zombie shooting game and not exactly what most fans would want for a shooter.

Capcom has also said that they could be creating an eSports game considering that the genre is ripe with players today with games such as DOTA 2 and Overwatch taking the lead. Street Fighter V tournaments are already possible but is still small compared to the championships held for the other eSports games.

Updates are expected from Capcom in the following months or years. They could tease their new shooter, strategy and eSports game in E3 2017 at the earliest.
