"Justice League" has finally found an actor to play the bad guy in the upcoming DC Comics' film. Ciaran Hinds, the actor known for playing the role of Mance Rayder in "Game of Thrones," has reportedly been signed on to play the DC supervillain Steppenwolf in the ensemble superhero flick.

Although Hinds is best remembered for his stint on the blockbuster HBO series, he has also featured in several films, including "John Carter," "Harry Potter," "Frozen," and "There Will Be Blood." The 63-year-old Irish actor recently finished filming scenes for his role as Steppenwolf wearing a motion-capture suit, similar to Josh Brolin's Thanos in Marvel's upcoming "Avengers: Infinity War," according to The Wrap.

Steppenwolf's character was first revealed in a deleted scene from "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." In the scene, Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) communicates with a demonic figure using technology on board the Kryptonian ship.

The SWAT arrives just in time to interrupt Luthor's one-to-one with the alien character to arrest him after Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) defeat Doomsday. The alien character vanishes without any indication of its identity but the creature's physical appearance and the three Mother Boxes led many to believe that it was Steppenwolf.

Steppenwolf is a cousin of Darkseid, the supreme leader of the evil planet Apokolips. There are reports that claim that in the film, Steppenwolf will invade planet Earth in search of the Mother Boxes, a group of ancient supercomputers created by the New Gods that possess great superpowers, and pave the way for the ominous Darkseid to appear as a villain later on in the "Justice League" series.

"[Steppenwolf's] a bad guy that would justify the Justice League," director Zack Snyder told Gizmodo. "I think you have to have a good threat that's fun and kinda crazy. And the Mother Boxes are always fun DC weird tech, you know?"

"Justice League" opens in theaters on Nov. 17, 2017. Watch the film's trailer below:
