Twice vs BLACKPINK

BLACKPINK showed that they are real professional in a recent interview. The girls do not mind rivals and do not care of competition.

In an interview with Ilgan Sports, the girls were asked which girl group they see as their rival. BLACKPINK member Jennie Kim answered, "Instead of a rivalry, I believe that sharing our music with as many people as possible is the bigger priority for us. We want to focus on our music rather than competition."

YG's newest girl group is often matched with JYP phenomenal girl group TWICE. Many people are reminded of the rivalry of Girls' Generation and 2NE1 - the two top female groups in early 2010s. The color of BLACKPINK and TWICE are quite different. TWICE projects the image of being girly and innocent, while BLACKPINK is full of swag and coolness.

In a recent Inkigayo episode, TWICE and BLACKPINK saw each other and greeted each other. Many thought that there will be a bad blood between two idol groups. However, after it was announced that TWICE won the top spot for the week, BLACKPINK members bowed their heads and congratulated their sunbae.

BLACKPINK is YG Entertainment's second generation female group seven years after 2NE1 debuted. For quite a long time, YG held back in debuting another girl group building the anticipation on possible members.

BLACKPINK debuted on August 8 with two title track "BOOMBAYAH" and "Whistle" - tunes that are reminiscent of 2NE1 songs. They recently held a comeback on Nov. 1 with more mellow tracks "Playing With Fire" and "Stay" that shows off the versatility of the members.

The girls also responded to accusations that they were just a copycat of their sunbae group from the same agency 2NE1. Instead of being disappointed from the comparisons between them and 2NE1, BLACKPINK members felt flattered and said that they look up to 2NE1 as they were a huge influence to them.
