Directed by Alex Kurtzman, the movie ''The Mummy'' will be the first release of this franchise from the makers, Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe. Courtney B. Vance will be seen playing the role of Colonel Gideon Forster in this upcoming horror movie.

Not much is revealed about the role of Vance; however, he is all set to play the tough role of an army colonel here. According to The Wrap, he will share the screen space along with Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis, Sofia Boutella and Jake Johnson.

The principal photography of this movie began on April 3, 2016 in Oxford, United Kingdom and right now it is in the post-production stage. After the filming of the movie was wrapped, there were scenes shot in Namibia which will be edited and inserted into the movie.

The reporter of Den of Geek, Don Kaye chatted with the scriptwriter Jon Spaihts and found quite a few interesting angles of this upcoming horror movie. ''Yeah, there have been a lot of artists on that one, but I was the first writer on. I did a bunch of drafts. Then I co-wrote a bunch of drafts with the director, Alex Kurtzman, a lovely guy. I've had a lot to do with the shaping of it'' clarified Spaihts.

Vance became a household name with his role as Johnnie Cochran in the episodes of ''The People v. O.J. Simpson'' which were telecast in ''American Crime Story.'' He won several TV awards like Primetime Emmy Award for outstanding lead actor in a limited series or movie for this role and was nominated for a few.

Vance's admirers might remember him for his role as Agent Jim Block in ''Final Destination 5'' which was released on Aug. 12, 2011 and made a decent $157.9 million globally. This 3D supernatural horror film too had a lot of horror elements to it and Vance's prior experience will certainly be beneficial for the director Kurtzman.

This movie will be released on June 9, 2017, and is expected to do better business than its predecessors with the same theme. Watch this video which has more details about the movie.
