Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard in 'Blade Runner 2049'

The first teaser trailer for 'Blade Runner 2049,' the official sequel to the 1982 original by Ridley Scott, has been released. The footage is less than two minutes long but it gives a glimpse of both franchise newcomer Ryan Gosling as K and the return of Harrison Ford as the rogue Blade Runner, Rick Deckard.

According to Collider, the official synopsis of the film reveals that the mysterious K is also a Blade Runner but in the movie he is not going after a rogue machine or replicant. Instead, K is chasing a secret that has been buried for the past few years and his investigation eventually leads him to Deckard.

Rick Deckard has been revealed to be in hiding for the past thirty years. Fans of the original film will recall that in the end he decides to run away with Rachael (Sean Young), a female replicant who believed she was human. The trailer continues to indicate that there may have been a more complex conspiracy being kept from the public and Deckard could be involved.

The trailer also has a lot of callbacks to the original film, Screen Rant reported. The music played on the piano is an Easter egg to the first movie's subtle hints that Deckard himself is possibly a replicant. It is also surmised that the building Deckard is hiding in is the old facility of the Tyrell Corporation, the company that designed Rachael.

It is further pointed out that the lines Deckard state in the trailer are also from the first film, such as "Replicants are like any other machine, they're either a benefit or a hazard. If they're a benefit it's not my problem."

"Blade Runner 2049" will release on Oct. 6, 2017 and will star Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoekes and Robin Wright. Dave Bautista and Mackenzie Davis have also been confirmed for the film.
