Now since the untitled sequel of the 1982 movie ''Blade Runner'' is in the filming stage, the fans are curious to know about the rest of the cast of the movie. As per the latest update, Ryan Gosling will play the lead role in the movie.
Gosling was considered for this role by the director Denis Villeneuve for a long time and after considerable thought, Gosling signed on the contract in Nov. 2015. The name of the character he will be playing in this American science fiction film is not yet known, however his decision was based on the fact that Villeneuve is directing the movie and Roger Deakins is the director of photography.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Villeneuve talked about his vision about this upcoming sequel. Since the original movie was very successful, there is a huge responsibility on his shoulders now to take forward the sequel. The original movie's backdrop was set in the Los Angeles area of 2019, and now the sequel will be set in an era of huge atmospheric changes and catastrophes. Since the movie will depict an Earth of 2047 which has gone through many climatic changes, the toxic environment is shown to impact the human race.
"The climate has gone berserk - the ocean, the rain, the snow is all toxic" clarified Villeneuve. Ridley Scott who had directed the original movie has written the story of the sequel. Now the cast of the movie is almost finalised, however, the makers are yet to release the updates about the respective characters they are playing.
Jóhann Jóhannson who had shared a relationship with the director Villeneuve in previous projects like ''Sicario'' and ''Prisoners'' is chosen again to give the background scores of this movie too. "Its truly an honor to be part of such an adventure" were the words of Jóhannson, after he was offered this responsibility. It is revealed that the music of this movie will be like the DNA and will play an important role in the success of it, reported Ice News.
The principal photography of 'Blade Runner II'' began on July 6, 2016 in Budapest and Deakins is busy with creating the effects which the director Villeneuve has envisaged. The smog has thickened and the concept art was released by the makers after the initial shooting was completed. Now the wait will continue till the movie opens in cinemas on Oct. 5, 2017.
