The untitled sequel of 1982 movie ''Blade Runner'' is in the making and is expected to be released in the US on Oct. 6, 2017. Iconic Harrison Ford as reprised the role of Rick Deckard in the sequel and the fans are waiting to see the magic again after three decades.
The original American science fiction film was directed by Ridley Scott, and made $33.8 million USD in the box-office in those days when international distribution rights were not available to the distributers Warner Bros, and they had to satisfy with the American sub-continent figures alone. The original movie depicted genetically engineered replicants which were created by a corporate giant Tyrell Corporation. It is difficult to identify them as they appear like normal human beings and they were originally created to work in the off-world colonies. They are banned on the Earth; however, they deny to follow the ban and roam around in the Los Angeles area.
A special task force of police under the guidance of Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) known as ''Blade Runners" is created to hunt down these replicants and the chase begins. The fans are waiting to see Ford again in the role of Deckard, and not much is known about the storyline of the sequel. According to IceNews, Jóhann Jóhannson will compose the scores in the upcoming movie.
"It is as if I'm trusted with an intensely important task that I can under no circumstances mess up" Jóhannson commented after he was signed for ''Blade Runner II.'' The sequel will be directed by Denis Villeneuve. The filming of this movie is happening now and Villeneuve had directed ''Arrival'' which was premiered in Venice film festival on Sep. 1, 2016, ''Sicario'' which was premiered in Cannes film festival on May 19, 2015 among many others.
Going by the genre of movies which Villeneuve had been directing, ''Blade Runner II'' will truly be a cap in the feather. ''Sicario's'' plot too was based on FBI Agents Kate Macer (Emily Blunt) and Reggie Wayne (Daniel Kaluuya) and this American crime-thriller drama film did fairly well in the box-office collecting $84.9 million USD in the box-office against a budget of $30 million USD.
Since the principal photography of the movie has started, the locales and shooting scenes give a look of a toxic Los Angeles area as it is depicting a smog clad world of 2047-2050. The original movie was set in 2017. Roger Deakins, the cinematographer of the movie is busy creating that effect where rain and snow has become toxic, Entertainment Weekly reported.
