Braise yourselves science-fiction movie fanatics, especially fans of Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling, as the sequel of Warner Bros. and Alcon Entertainment's "Blade Runner" is coming to the big screen on Oct. 6, 2017. The film was initially scheduled to be released on January 2018, but it seems that the production team has decided to move the premiere date on October 2017.
Ford is set to return in the "Blade Runner" sequel, reprising his role as Detective Rick Deckard. It is also said that Robin Wright and Ryan Gosling will co-star in the sequel, Polygon reported.
Furthermore, according to Variety, the plot of the movie will be set decades from the original 1982 film. The director of the first film, Ridley Scott, will also return as the Executive producer of "Blade Runner 2."
Although there have been no specific news regarding the plot of "Blade Runner 2," rumors points out that Gosling's appearance would most likely be an introduction to make him the face of the possible sequel after "Blade Runner 2."
The plot of the first "Blade Runner" film focuses on the hunting of the escaped genetically engineered Replicants. The film's protagonist, Rick Decakrd, who is also an expect blade runner, was reluctant to take on another assignment to kill the replicants.
It has been rumored that the "Blade Runner" sequel would finally reveal the truth behind Deckard's identity as a Replicant produced by the Tyrell Corporation. In relation to that story, Scott has already admitted several years ago, during his interview with the New York Times, that his lead protagonist has always been a Replicant.
Therefore, basing on the admission of Scott, and because Ford is not getting any younger, it is quite safe to say that Gosling will take over the franchise as the new face of the "Blade Runner" films.
Perhaps, in the coming months, Alcon Entertainment would finally reveal some few specifics relating to the storylines or plot of the long awaited "Blade Runner 2."
