WWE 2016 latest rumors: Kurt Angle assures he will be at Wrestlemania 33

| Dec 31, 2016 11:06 AM EST

Kurt Angel and journalist Geoff Keighley speak onstage during the 4th Annual Spike TV 2006 Video Game Awards held at The Galen Center on December 8, 2006 in Los Angeles, California.

A potential return of Kurt Angle has been mentioned time and again in previous months though the former champion has now hinted at another return to the WWE fold. If true, fans could see the Angle back at Wrestlemania 33 happening in April 2017.

Kurt Angle will be doing at least two indie matches soon, one against Alberto Del Rio and another against Cody Rhodes. Ironically, Del Rio and Rhodes recently departed the WWE scene.

After that, there is no telling what Kurt Angle has in mind. He has been resting up since leaving TNA and some believed that he may even be among the surprise entries at the Royal Rumble 2017 happening this January 2017 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, PW Stream reported.

Seeing Kurt Angle take part in the 30-man battle royal could be something though he is unlikely to come out the winner of it all. Rather, it will be more about spurring storylines for Wrestlemania 33 in Orlando.

Assuming Kurt Angle is not part of the Royal Rumble 2017, he could be at Wrestlemania 33 as one of the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame inductees. Other than that, he could stick his nose in one of the matches.

Of the current stars right now, Kurt Angle did show interest in feuding with Seth Rollins, according to Comic Book. “The Architect” is expected to face-off against Triple H in a mentor vs. student match. Angle could come in after the match is done and attack Rollins.

As far as a match is concerned, the closest is perhaps the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Angle could be one of the surprise entrants, similar to what Shaquille O’ Neal did in 2015.

Right now, folks may want to take this bit from Angle lightly. It is not the first time that he has hinted at a possible WWE return so it would be best to wait-and-see. The WWE has denied the allegations as expected though they have done most of that in the past with other stars as well.

For now, check out that interview with Kurt Angle on who he would be interested in facing in case he does return to the WWE.
