Powerful OnePlus 3T will compete with Google Pixel and iPhone 7

Earlier in November 2016, OnePlus revealed its set of handset that will receive the latest Android Nougat firmware, specifying OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T as new additions to its devices. Now, OnePlus CEO Carl Pei spilled the news that its OxygenOS 4.0 (based on the Android 7.0 Nougat) has been updated on the mobile devices.

OnePlus announced the said rollout on the company's forums on Dec. 31, 2016, which is triggered by OnePlus's co-founder Carl Pei through a Twitter post. According to Tech Firstpost, the release of the new OxygenOS 4.0 update came after the launch of OxygenOS Open Beta 10 on Dec. 28, 2016.

As per NDTV, users should not expect a bulk update coming on their devices since the company stated that the update will be an "incremental rollout," meaning the OxygenOS 4.0 update will be released in batches. It is suggested that few users will receive the update earlier than others, since the company is pushing the update over-the-air (OTA) that will took longer before it reaches many users.

In addition, OxygenOS 4.0 came out as a firmware based on Android 7.0 Nougat, rather than the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update. According to its changelog, the latest firmware updated its functionality and allows bigger customization from users. Some of the features include better shelf customization, new notifications and settings design, multi-window view, support for direct reply of notifications, custom DPI support, and the ability to choose status bar icons. This update also makes Quick Launch available to third-party apps.

Users can taste the said update early by downloading the Open Beta 1 update for the OnePlus 3T devices. If users could not wait for the OTA system, they can manually download the Open Beta 1 update and sideload it to the devices. However, this will place the users in the beta release cycle for future OTA updates. With respect to OTA updates, it is recommendedfor users to have a strong Wi-Fi connection and good battery upon installing the latest OxygenOS in their phones.

Right now, OnePlus is asking users to report bugs in the software, while users under the beta versions can still give feedback at the company's forum.
