Android's new Operating System, "Nougat 7.0," will soon grace a large-scale of smartphones towards the end of 2016, according to reports. Earlier, the new OS was initially introduced on Google's Nexus in August and then dropped to 2014-based Motorola Nexus 6 and HTC Nexus 9 earlier this month.
Now, Google's latest Android 7.0 Nougat firmware update intends to give stable and rich experience to its partner-OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) such as Motorola (owned by Lenovo), Samsung, HTC, Sony and others, Headlines & Global News reported.
The Nexus series belongs to the first set of phones to be equipped with the new Android 7.0 Nougat in August. The Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P units are the first handsets to cater the OS service, and apart from these two versions of the Nexus phones, more devices can have the option for upgrade that includes Nexus 9, Nexus 6, Nexus Player, Pixel C, General Mobile 4G (Android One).
Among the Samsung devices that would receive the latest Android 7.0 Nougat upgrades are Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, and Galaxy S6 edge+.
According to TechTimes, the OS upgrade in Galaxy S7 is imminent as the handset was spotted on GFXBench, although a more realistic timeline estimates that the Android 7.0 Nougat will be released to the device sometime in the first quarter of 2017.
In addition, LG's V20 will be powered by Android 7.0 Nougat when the phablet is released on Oct. 28. Apart from the said handset, LG V10, LG G5, and LG G3 will also have the new OS upgrade.
Xperia is also rumored to take the same road of putting the new Android 7.0 Nougat on its flagship devices, as a leaked roadmap in September suggests that the following devices from Sony will receive Android 7.0 Nougat in batches: Xperia X Performance (October), Xperia XZ (October), Xperia X (November), Xperia X Compact (November), Xperia Z5 (December), Xperia Z3+ (December), Xperia Z4 Tablet (December), Xperia XA (early 2017), Xperia Ultra (early 2017).
Updates on Motorola devices also point in catering the Android 7.0 Nougat on its freshest offerings. Some of the devices will be Moto G (4th Gen), Moto G Plus (4th Gen), Moto G Play (4th Gen). Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen), Moto X Style, Moto X Play, Moto X Force, Moto Z, Moto Z Droid, Moto Z Force Droid, Moto Z Play, Moto Z Play Droid, Droid Maxx 2, and Droid Turbo 2.
The makers of HTC will also join the trend of upgrading its operationg system into Android's new Nougat for HTC 10, HTC One M10, HTC One M9, and HTC One A9.
In addition, the team from OnePlus announced recently that the company is "actively working" on getting the new Android upgrade to its OnePlus 3 handset. Now, two of the company's devices, One Plus 3 and OnePlus 2, could receive the upgrade in the first quarter of 2017.
