The Brooklyn Nets are the National Basketball Association's worst team with an 8-25 win-loss record and they are barely competing without their starting point Jeremy Lin who just played 12 games this season following back-to-back hamstring injury. However, the Asian American guard could be back sooner than later as he faced the media for the first time since obtaining an injury on Dec. 26.
Lin told journalists that it has been less than a week from suffering his hamstring injury and he is encouraged of his earlier recovery by shooting hoops, NBA.com reported. Though Lin has seen progress from his injury, he says there is still no timetable for his return as the organization is taking it slow with him after suffering the same injury earlier this season that sidelined him for more than 10 games.
Lin's injury did not just take a toll on the performance of the Nets but on Lin himself. He said that it has been tough not to help his teammates but said he takes the experience as a learning one like he did with his other setbacks in life.
Luckily for the former Harvard University alum, his hamstring injury happened on a different area compared from his previous hamstring injury. On court, Lin is playing excellent for the Nets with an average of 13.9 points, 5.8 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game, ESPN reported.
If there is one good thing the Nets could take away from Lin's injury is the emergence of guards Isaiah Whitehead and Randy Foye. The veteran Foye once hit a game winning shot along the season while Whitehead is playing steadily behind 6.9 points, 2.9 assists and 2.3 boards in 19 starts.
The Nets are eight games behind the Chicago Bulls, who are currently at eighth place in the Eastern Conference, and they could surely use Lin in an attempt of running for a playoff berth.
