Samsung Galaxy X1, X1 Plus foldable smartphone details emerge

Samsung is rumored to be working on foldable smartphones. Some details on the alleged Galaxy X and Galaxy X1 Plus have emerged.

According to a Chinese leakster, the Galaxy X caries a model number of SM-X9000 whereas the Galaxy X1 Plus has a model number of SM-X9050. These model numbers suggest that these are Chinese variants of Galaxy X which indicates that the South Korean company is testing the alleged smartphone in China, The Android Soul reported.

The Galaxy X1 testing model runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow whereas the more advanced Galaxy X1 Plus is loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat OS. Previous rumors suggest that the foldable smartphone are codenamed as Project Valley inside Samsung factories.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 fiasco has affected the reputation of the company to some extent. Hence, rumors have it that the South Korean tech giant not only aims to release feature-rich Galaxy S8 soon but also new Galaxy X series foldable smartphones with topnotch specs in the second half of this year.

Known analyst, Kim-Dong-Won from Hyundai Securities had recently predicted that Samsung would be introducing its foldable smartphone within this year. Other companies are also expected to soon release foldable smartphones following Samsung.

Patently Mobile has revealed patent details of the variable curvature display that may arrive on Galaxy X smartphone. The technology enables foldable smartphone to fold at different angles according to the preference of the user.

It is rumored that Samsung will use displays that can be folded outwards on Galaxy X. Rumors suggest that even Lenovo would also launch a smartphone with fold-out display. Even Google, Apple and Microsoft are rumored to launch smartphones with fold-out screens.

As far as Samsung Galaxy S8 rumors are concerned, the upcoming flagship is expected to be revealed in two screen sizes of 6 inches and 5 inches. Both the smartphones are expected to house dual-edge curved. As most 2017 flagship smartphones are expected to be driven by Snapdragon 835, the Galaxy S8 models are also expected to come powered with the next generation Qualcomm chipset.

Some of the other rumored features include Android Nougat OS, AI assistants from Samsung, dual cameras, autofocus enabled selfie shooters, iris scanner, fingerprint scanner and more. The Galaxy S8 is expected to get announced in April this year.
