'Super Mario Run' to hit Android devices, Google Play Store in March

Shigeru Miyamoto, creative fellow at Nintendo and creator of Super Mario, speaks on stage during an Apple launch event on September 7, 2016 in San Francisco, California.

"Super Mario Run" has been one of the most successful games in the smartphone industry after its release in the iOS system in December 2015. However, Android users still cannot experience the "Super Mario Run" craze as the game still has not hit the Android market. The good news is Android users will have to wait for less than two months to download it on their devices.

Though "Super Mario Run" has drastically decreased in popularity, its awaited release on the Android system is expected to keep the game afloat. The game is reported to be out in the Google Play Store on March for the same $10 price tag, iDigitalTimes reported.

iOS users who have downloaded the game and paid for the $10 price have expressed their dismay for the game being too expensive despite it having just 24 levels. iPhone users can download "Super Mario Run" for free but can only play the game's first three levels and will need to pay to unlock the whole game.

With the expected March release on Android, Nintendo may consider dropping the game's price to entice Android users to buy the game since paid games are usually priced from $2 to $7. Also, unlike in iOS, the Android version might have a few tweaks in it to make users more engaged with the game.

Roughly 5 million users downloaded "Super Mario Run" in its first day of release, breaking the record made by another smartphone hit "Pokemon Go," Fortune reported. In the following weeks, from the top downloaded app from the App Store, it plummeted to the 40s with critics noting that the $10 price tag is too much for the game.

Since Nintendo is reported not to include major updates about "Super Mario Run," Android users could expect the same levels and features if they have played it already in the iOS. If you still have not played the game, watch the video below for the trailer:
