Elsa (Idina Menzel) and Anna (Kristen Bell) are back in the "Frozen Northern Lights".

"Frozen 2" is definitely in the works at Disney and we've got the lowdown on the all the essentials you need to know about the highly anticipated animated sequel.

"Frozen 2" plot

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, producer Peter Del Vacho revealed that they're working hard on the sequel. "We're in the development writing process and are very excited by it. Like all movies, it will evolve," Del Vacho hinted.

Del Vacho further stated that the "Frozen 2" plot builds up on the events in the first movie. It will also explain some of the arcs presented in the first film so as to allow fans to understand more about Elsa and Anna's relationship and Elsa's powers.

Interestingly, fans will see a new Else in the sequel. Not just a new Elsa in terms of her personality, but also in terms of her outfits. Fans can expect Anna and Elsa to sport new looks in "Frozen 2."

 "Frozen 2" cast

The main cast members of "Frozen" will return for the sequel, including Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad. There's no word yet on whether Santino Fontana will reprise his role as Prince Hans or if the character will be part of the sequel.

"Frozen 2" music

It's going to be hard to one-up the success achieved by "Let It Go." It was an iconic song and arguably one of the best soundtracks Disney has produced ever. As a matter of fact, it won an Academy Award for Best Original Song. "Frozen 2" is going to have to do something different and impactful to match what "Let It Go" has accomplished.

"I think they'll definitely try to position one song as a Let It Go-trumping central number. At a guess, though, it might be a duet between the sisters," Telegraph film critic Tim Robey said. "They only shared about four scenes in the first film, so I feel more detailed development of that relationship has got to be the way to go."

Christophe Beck, Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson Lopez have not yet confirmed their return to the sequel, but it's likely Disney will have them on board.

"Frozen 2" release date

No release date has been finalized yet, but there are speculations that "Frozen 2" will not be out before 2019.
