'Suicide Squad' Star Cara Delevingne To Join Luc Besson’s Film ‘Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets’ With 'Amazing Spider-Man 2' Star Dane DeHaan

"Suicide Squad" actress Cara Delevingne and "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" actor Dane DeHaan are set to star in a film adaptation of the famous French comic "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets."

Delevingne and DeHaan are working on the upcoming film in collaboration with "Fifth Element" and "Lucy" director Luc Besson, as per The Hollywood Reporter.

Besson has posted the first film logo on Twitter. The title's text is in blue with a cosmos background, suggesting the theme of the project. The photo was captioned "First logo #Valerian" and it got more than a thousand re-tweets and favorites.

The "Taken 2" director has also made his brand new Facebook page, where he wrote a status containing his motivations on bringing the comic book story to the big screen.

First, Besson admitted that he is not the "king of social media," but he is in the process of beginning what he calls the "biggest challenge" in his filmmaking career.

Another thing the the French directorf expressed was his desire to share, as he did not want to be alone. He added that he has been a big fan of "Valerian," since he was 12 years old.

Finally, the "Transporter 2" director is reaching for the audience's support, as he has around "800 days" to meet loneliness and dissuasion while helming his promising blockbuster.

Fans can see "Valerian" to have similar elements with sci-fi films "Star Wars" and "Star Trek," as per Cinema Blend.

As for the general story plot, "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets" will follow agents Valerian and Laureline as they traverse across time and space.

The characters will be played by DeHaan and Delevingne and they are set to explore the planet called Syrte, a capital of a thousand worlds.

Aside from "Valerian," DeHaan will be seen in action films like Camille Delamarre's "The Transporter Refueled," "Transporter 5," "Transporter 6," and Steven Quale's action-thriller film "The Lake." 

On the other hand, Delevingne will be followed by DC fans as Enchantress in David Ayer's "Suicide Squad." The English actress will also appear in films "Tulip Fever," "London Fields," "Kids in Love," "Paper Towns," and "Pan."

As for Besson, he is known in writing and helming 2014's action-thriller film "Lucy," which starred Scarlett Johansson. Since its release on July 25, 2014, the blockbuster stunned the fans and made a worldwide gross of $458 million.

Aside from piloting "Valerian," Besson is set to helm the films "Transporter 5," "Transporter 6," and "The Lake."

Since the film is in its early phase of development, fans have to wait for further announcement on more cast members, plot twists, and release date.
