Katrina Kaif and Jackie Chan to star in "Kung Fu Yoga" film.

Things are really looking up for Hong Kong-born actress Katrina Kaif after she has just sealed the deal for her first international film with Jackie Chan in a movie titled "Kung Fu Yoga."

Hong Kong-based filmmaker Stanley Tong will direct the action-adventure where 31-year-old Katrina will play the role of an Indian professor at a Chinese University. Jackie Chan takes the role of an archaeologist who hires Kaif, as they both join forces in unearthing treasures from the Magadha era. Tong is not new to working with Chan, as they both worked together in a Jackie Chan classic, "Rumble in the Bronx."

"There are a lot of stunts in the film which is not surprising since it features Jackie Chan, a martial arts expert. What is interesting is that Katrina too will get to do many action scenes," says an insider, pointing out that Kaif has done plenty of action stunts in "Ek Tha Tiger," too.

The movie is set in the dynasty of King Bimbisara of the Magadha Empire (circa 543 B.C. to 492 B.C.), where the two set out on a treasure hunt. King Bimbisara was popular for being a great friend and protector of Gautama Buddha and was also known for his cultural achievements.

The professor and the archaeologist will travel back in time and interact with the monarchs.

"They will also fight off demons from their past," the source added.

Earlier in May 2015, Jackie Chan expressed his keen interest in co-producing and acting in Indo-Chinese collaborations. This was said after the two countries signed a co-production agreement in 2014, the same time Chinese President Xi Jinping visited India, followed by the trip Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made to China.

As of the moment, Katrina is involved in Abhishek Kapoor's "Fitoor," which is an adaptation of the Charles Dickens novel "The Great Expectations." This will be released in time for Valentine's Day in 2016. She also co-stars with steady date, Ranbir Kapoor in Anurag Basu's "Jagga Jasoos."

Jackie Chan's most recent film is titled Dragon Blade which released its movie trailer earlier today.
