US President Kanye West? Caitlyn Jenner’s Son-In-Law Wants To Be The Next Barack Obama

| Aug 31, 2015 07:11 PM EDT

Kanye West received an honorary doctorate degree from School of the Art Institute of Chicago President Walter Massey during their annual commencement ceremony.

Caitlyn Jenner's son-in-law Kanye West surprised the audience at the 2015 MTV Video Music Award when he said he suggested he wants to become the next Barack Obama as the second African American president of the United States.

Accepting the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award, West said, "It's not about me. It's about ideas. New ideas. People with ideas. People who believe in truth. And yes, as you probably could've guessed by this moment, I have decided, in 2020, to run for president."

The night after West claimed he is running for president in 2020, Maryland conservative activist Eugene Craig III started the Ready for Kanye committee. He filed the committee with the Federal Election Commission. It is yet to be confirmed if the republican is just trolling the rapper.

West's father-in-law and star of "I Am Cait" was not with the family during the awards ceremony. A source told Hollywood Life that Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Kylie Jenner, and Tyga congratulated West before they all turned and left immediately.

The 2015 MTV VMA is the 32nd instalment of the awards ceremony with the nominations led by "Bad Blood" singer Taylor Swift with 10 and "Thinking Out Loud" singer Ed Sheeran with six. Hosted by "Wrecking Ball" hit maker Miley Cyrus, it was held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, Calif.

Swift's "Bad Blood" featuring Kendrick Lamar won Video of the Year beating Lamar's "Alright," Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud," Beyonce's "7/11" and Mark Ronson's "Uptown Funk" featuring Bruno Mars. The award was previously won by Cyrus's "Wrecking Ball."
