Vincent Cassel will play villain in a "Bourne" sequel.

"Black Swan" actor Vincent Cassel has been added to the growing cast ensemble of Paul Greengrass' "Bourne" sequel.

According to Variety, Cassel is set to be an antagonist to Matt Damon's character in the next installment of the upcoming action film. Sources told the publication that Cassel will play an assassin who hunts down Bourne, joining the orders of Clive Owen, Karl Urban, and Edgar Ramirez, who played the antagonists of the previous "Bourne" films.

Cassel's character could be sent to take down the amnesiac spy or to avenge someone who is significant to him, as per Cinema Blend. At the moment, exact details on additional characters, cast, and plot twists are yet to be revealed.

Cassel is known for his roles in Andrew Adamson and Vicky Jenson's animated film "Shrek," Gaspar Noe's crime drama film "Irreversible," and Darren Aronofsky's thriller film "Black Swan." Aside from Greengrass' "Bourne" sequel, the actor will also be seen in Selton Mello's drama film "A Movie Life," Carlos Diegues' drama "The Great Mystical Circus," and Xavier Dolan's "It's Only the End of the World."

Aside from Cassel, the "Bourne" film sequel stars Matt Damon, Alicia Vikander, Julia Stiles, Viggo Moprtensen, and Tommy Lee Jones, among others.

With Greengrass set to helm the film, Damon, Robert Ludlum, and Christopher Rouse are on board to co-write the screenplay. Gregory Goodman, Michael J. Malone, and Frank Marshall will co-produce the film while Rouse and Henry Morrison will be the film's executive producers. Production is assumed to commence in the later part of summer.

Greengrass' untitled "Bourne" sequel is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on July 29, 2016.
