Ellen Page played Kitty Pride in "X-Men: Days of the Future Past."

"Freeheld" star Ellen Page attended the 2015 Toronto International film festival with her girlfriend Samantha Thomas. It was the couple's first red carpet appearance ever.

When asked why the Sunday night premiere of "Freeheld" was her red carpet debut, the Canadian actress promptly quoted with a smile to E! Online, "I am in love". The movie cast Julian Moore, Michael Shannon, Jeannine Kaspar, Brie Larson and Ruby Rose, accompanied the couple and showed support. Page plays Stacie Andree and Moore's character Laurel Hester's girlfriend in the film.

Page declared that walking down the red carpet holding her lady pal's hand was highly significant for her, especially because this was a crucial film for her. The duo looked breathtaking in Tuxedo ensembles. Page adorned an appearance from Saint Laurent and wore black pants, boots and a lanky tie, US magazine reported.

Her best pal, Ruby Rose, spoke with overwhelming enthusiasm, stating that it was highly difficult for her to not smile until it hurt as she was accompanying the most talented, generous, humble human being she knew. Ruby even put a picture on Instagram and quoted "Ellen, I am so proud of you and will always be grateful for everything you are and will always be to me". Page later posted a groupie on Instagram, with her girlfriend and some of her close buddies.

Meanwhile, "Freeheld" is directed by Peter Sollett from the screenplay by Ron Nyswaner. The film is based on the book "Freeheld" by Cynthia Wade. It is the true story of police officer Hester who is diagnosed with lung cancer.
