Asus announced that it will release the Zenfone selfie in India.

Asus recently announced that it will release the ZenFone Selfie in India. The phone will be sold via Flipkart starting Sept. 22. Pre-order for the phone started in August and will fetch a price tag of Rs. 17,999 or roughly $273.

Asus revealed that only the 32GB model of the device will be released. It has 3GB of internal memory. On the other hand, the 16GB model with 2GB of RAM will fetch a price tag of $15,999 or $243 and will go on sale on Sept. 30. Flipkart will sell the device in two color variants; pink and aqua blue.

According to NDTV, the ZenFone Selfie boasts a rear and front facing camera with 13-megapixel resolution. Initial reviews of the device highlighted the phone's f/2.0 aperture, dual-color Real Tone flash and 28mm focal length. The device's rear camera features a laser autofocus module.

The Asus ZenFone Selfie is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 615 chipset from Qualcomm. The chipset is composed of quad-core 1.7GHz and quad-core 1GHz processors. It has an Adreno 405 graphics processing unit.

The device has a 5.5-inch Full HD display capable of rendering 1080x1920 resolution. According to Gizbot, the screen is protected by a Gorilla Glass 4. It supports microSD memory cards for storage expansion of up to 64GB. It uses the ZenUI interface running on top of the stock Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system. It is 4G LTE capable and packs a 3000mAh battery.

Despite these impressive specs, one of the device's negative aspects pointed by critics is its massive amount of unnecessary bloatware as well as duplicate apps. The worst part of this is that the apps are parts of the OEM and users cannot uninstall these apps.
