The Games with Gold free games for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 this October features Halloween-inspired and thrilling titles.

Xbox players should gear up for a scarefest this Halloween month. The upcoming free games for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 are also bound to help get the mood started as Microsoft unveiled some thrills with its lineup of free games.

As usual, there are four titles that are free for both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 platforms, Xbox Wire reported. For Xbox One players, "Valiant Hearts The Great War" will be available for the entire October. This puts players in a war-ridden world based on real-life experiences written out by soldiers and civilians during the World War I. While devoid of ghouls and goblins, "Valiant Hearts The Great War" presents a more realistic kind of fear.

Also available on the Xbox One and the Xbox 360 is "The Walking Dead: The Complete First Season." Adapted from the comic book world created by Robert Kirkman, "The Walking Dead" game from Telltale Games puts decisions of players at the foreground to maneuver into the world of the undead and survive in a no-holds-barred, no rules kind of environment.

Players should note that the game will be available on the Xbox One from Oct. 16 to Nov. 15. On the other hand, it will be out on the Xbox 360 for free from Oct. 16 to 31.

Finally, Xbox 360 players will also get the "Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes" for the first half of October. This game is all about the thrills of going on rescue mission and crossing enemy borders in a mix of stealth, action and tactics.

The Xbox Games With Gold promo is only available to Xbox One and Xbox 360 Live Gold members. Each of the games follow its own specific time limit for its availability in the Xbox Store, so best to make sure to get it before the monthly promo expires.

Apart from the new lineup of free games, one of the entertainment apps for the Xbox One, Sling TV, will be getting improvements for its user interface. The company confirmed via the official Sling TV website that it will be rolling out a number of updates to improve on the UI.

The guide for the Xbox One will be improved so that it will be easier to find and access live and on-demand shows via the next-gen console. The changes are predominantly based on the feedback from the Sling TV community. Apart from UI changes, the app will also introduce some bug fixes and some other technical improvements. Xbox One fans are expected to see the changes reflected in the Sling TV app as early as this week.

"We know how important content is to you, so we continue to focus on adding channels like AMC, HBO and EPIX," said Ben Weinberger, head of product for Sling TV, over at the official website. "With this update, we've created the first step in an experience that makes it easier to find the content you love."
