Fans of "Person of Interest" are not happy that CBS only ordered 13 episodes for season 5. Several reportedly took this as an indication that the series is about to get cancelled.

Kaily Russel of Sonomo, CA recently started an online petition, via change.org, to appeal to the network producers to give the show another chance. Russel perceived that fans were "robbed of a decent amount of episodes," adding that the show deserves more than 13 episodes for season 5.

Russel also pointed out that some shows that even got lower ratings were given more episodes. She also appealed to Netflix to consider picking up the series if CBS decided to eventually pull the plug.

In an interview with Comic Book Resources, executive producer Greg Plageman explained that they treated each finale episode as possible series finale. He said that they wanted to give fans a satisfying ending, which is why they never end it with a cliffhanger.

This time around, however, Plageman admitted that they were thinking of leaving the finale on an ambiguous note in case another network, or even CBS, picked it up for another season.

Plageman added that they were also excited of the prospect of "Person of Interest" going to WGN or Netflix, explaining that the show can be a bit complicated and that viewers needed to keep up with it or they could end up getting lost.

Plageman added that they wanted to push the envelope further.

"We'd rather it be a show that stuck to your ribs than something that was just comfort food," he said.
