The release date of "Person of Interest" season 5 may be scheduled for airing in 2016, but multiple speculations on its possible plot have already circulated online. Cast member Michael Emerson (Harold Finch) recently revealed what fans may expect in the season premiere.
In an interview with Indiewire, Emerson said that viewers will finally find out what will happen to the Machine. If and when the Machine does return, its entire program and core principles may just be wiped out.
He also shared that his character Finch has become "obsessed" with the Samaritan. Emerson said that their mission has become way more dangerous than when they first started, adding that their priorities have shifted a bit. The actor added that he would sometime get scared of the storyline happening in real life.
"The idea of what Samaritan is and how plausible it is, is hair raising," he said.
"I try to hold onto that idea that what they're up against is the end of humankind potentially."
Emerson also shared that "POI" fans will get to see more of Finch and Root's (Amy Acker) relationship come season 5. Throughout the series, viewers get to see the dynamic shift from being enemies to close friends. He pointed out that more than anyone it was Root who understands how important is the Machine to Finch.
Emerson also said that he loved working with Acker's character, saying that Root is very "dangerous and unpredictable."
According to MNR Daily, Finch and Root will spend most part of the season 5 trying to rebuild the Machine. The outlet hinted that when they are done, it would be more powerful than anyone has ever seen.
