"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" was just released in theaters and now there are already rumors on what fans expect to see for episode 8 of the franchise.
The entire crew of "Star Wars: Episode 8" is happy to work together again, particularly after they spent the last year getting ready for it. Shooting of the sequel is underway and the actual film will premiere on May 26, 2017, Den of Geek reported.
Initially, avid fans had to wait for three years before the release of the next "Star Wars" installment. However, the waiting period has now been reduced to 19 months only, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Den of Geek quotes producer Kathleen Kennedy who said, "We're excited to get back together. We start shooting Episode VIII in January. We've been prepping the movie for the last year and (writer-and-director) Rian Johnson has been doing an amazing job."
Rian Johnson, known for directing the movie "Looper," confirmed via Twitter that he will be directing Episode 8 of "Star Wars."
The is no title for Episode 8 yet, but it is known that the cast will include Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Mark Hamill, Oscar Isaac, and Domhnall Gleeson. Furthermore, it is rumored that Andy Serkis and Benicio Del Toro will star in the next installment of "Star Wars."
The events in the forthcoming film will pick up right where "The Force Awakens" wrapped up. Reportedly, Kylo Rey will complete his training with Supreme Leader Snoke and Finn will still be in a recovery state. Among the most awaited scenes is the fate of Rey and Luke Skywalker.
