Fresh information has revealed that Microsoft will soon release Windows 10 Mobile OS update to users.
In October, Microsoft had announced that it will be releasing Windows 10 Mobile OS update to Windows Phone 8.1 smartphone users by December 2015. However, the firmware upgrade remained unavailable in the previous month. Fresh tweets from the official Microsoft Lumia Support Twitter handle has revealed that the arrival of the update is close at hand, WM Power User reported.
Moreover, Vodafone Australia, a cellular service provider, has also revealed that the it is waiting to test the Windows 10 Mobile update. Another carrier, Movistar Spain has also stated that it will be rolling out the firmware by the end of January.
By putting together all the latest information from varied sources, it seems that the Windows 10 Mobile update may release at the end of January or by next month, Phone Arena reported. Currently, the only smartphones that come preinstalled with Windows 10 Mobile OS are Microsoft Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL and Lumia 550. However, all the Lumia smartphones are running on Windows Phone 8.1 OS.
One needs to be aware of the fact that only those Lumia smartphones that are currently running on Windows Phone 8.1 OS with Lumia Denim version 8.10.14219.341 can receive the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade. In order to check the Windows Phone 8.1 version installed on a Lumia device, users are needed to navigate to Settings > Extras + info.
The hardware requirements to install the Windows 10 Mobile OS include at least 512 MB of RAM and inbuilt storage of 8 GB. Microsoft has previously stated that all the low-end Lumia devices will be unable to support all Windows 10 Mobile features.
