Former Miami Heat standout Michael Beasley scored 63 points together with 19 rebounds and 13 assists on the way to a triple-double Most Valuable Player performance during the 172-145 victory by the North over the South All-Stars in the 2016 Chinese Basketball Association All-Star Game.
Beasley's 63-point output is the new record for most points in a CBA All-Star Game. He also set the previous record of 59 points during last season's All-Star match when he also won the MVP award.
"My teammate helped me a lot on the court," said the 27-year-old former NBA player, via Xinhuanet. "I really enjoyed the game tonight."
The game was said to be "defense-free" as all the other CBA All-Star games have been in the past, but the stat line of the second overall pick of the 2008 NBA Draft is still impressive even as most of his field goals came from within five feet of the basket.
"Sure, it was in an All-Star Game in China, but 63 points is still 63 points, and it set a new CBA record for the game," said a report from CBS Sports.
Beasley is a seven-year veteran of the NBA, playing his first two and last two seasons with the Miami Heat. He also suited up for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Phoenix Suns during the middle part of his NBA career.
The former Kansas State Wildcat appeared in 24 games for the Heat last season, averaging 8.8 points and 3.7 rebounds in only 21.0 minutes of play per night.
Beasley is currently playing for the Shandong Golden Stars as one of the team's imports together with Eugene Jeter. He is averaging almost 32 points per game, 13 rebounds, and four assists for the fifth-placed Golden Stars.
