Members of the Hong Kong media expressed their hate for pop singer G.E.M. Tang for the poor attitude she showcased during her Jan. 14 concert held at the Hong Kong Coliseum.
The Hong Kong-born singer was criticized by Hong Kong media after she apparently denied them the chance to interview her while showing preference to the Chinese press during her concert Wednesday last week.
According to an unnamed source, the Chinese reporters were flown to Hong Kong and were offered to stay at a five-star hotel by her manager.
The source also revealed that, while members of the Chinese media had been allowed to roam backstage, the Hong Kong reporters were "given a cold shoulder" and were blocked by some of G.E.M.'s security staff whenever they tried to interview her before the beginning of the concert.
The event, which came after she completed her "G.E.M. X.X.X. Live World Tour," should have been a celebration of her return home.
However, because of her poor attitude and dreadful performance during the concert itself, her image was ruined to the Hong Kong media as well as to the audience.
According to China Entertainment News, G.E.M. was also criticized for her poor performance resulting in very few congratulatory bouquets sent to her by fans.
When asked about the singer-songwriter's alleged special treatment to select members of the media, a representative of her concert organizer Entertainment Impact said: "Every company has their own way to promote their artist, we respect their decisions."
The representative also implied that they no longer wish to invite G.E.M. to hold another concert in Hong Kong, explaining that they only organize concerts "that are suitable for the audiences in Hong Kong."
