This year's Spring Festival Gala includes Hong Kong singer-songwriter Andy Lau in the latest list of participating celebrities in the annual event hosted by China Central Television.
Lau, who is considered one of Hong Kong's most commercially successful actors in film during the '80s, has been branded by the Asian media as one of the Four Heavenly Kings of Cantopop together with Jacky Cheung, Aaron Kwok and Leon Lai.
He also made history after he was crowned by the Guinness World Records as the Cantopop male artist who won the most awards.
Nearly a decade since his last appearance in the same event, the 53-year-old Hong Kong-born celebrity is set to grace the event once more, though his performance is yet to be determined.
The show would be aired on Feb. 18, on the eve of the Lunar New Year, which is calendared to occur on Feb. 19 this year.
Also included in the list of artists who had confirmed to attend and perform during the annual event are Chinese vocalist Na Ying, folk and pop singer Han Lei, singer-actress Li Yuchun as well as Actress Zhang Kaili and Hong Kong singer Deng Ziqi, more popularly known as Tang G.E.M.
The Spring Festival Gala, also known as CCTV New Year Gala, is an annual event produced and broadcast by CCTV which attracts an average of 700 million viewers from all over the world.
It features performances like dance, comedy, drama and musical acts from some of China's top-caliber artists and has become a tradition of sorts to Chinese families every Chinese New Year.
