New "Daredevil" season 2 details will feature a new "Chinese New Year" teaser and the possibility that both Elektra and The Punisher could be the main villains in the show.
A new teaser trailer for "Daredevil" season 2 was streamed for the celebration of the Chinese New Year as the video features Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox) kneeling and slightly wounded as Father Lantom (Peter McRobbie) tells him that his work is not yet finished.
Daredevil begins to rise up as the background sees many fireworks, Chinese lanterns and quote which says,"THE TIME HAS COME TO SETTLE ALL DEBTS" as the video fades to pitch black viewers will hear Frank Castle/The Punisher's (Jon Bernthal) voice saying "Bang" before the title appears in the end.
Season 2 will feature two of Marvel's deadliest characters The Punisher and Elektra (Elodie Yung) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and both characters will test Daredevil's resolved in protecting Hell's Kitchen. Several images have already feature Daredevil and The Punisher together, signifying that these two characters will have a huge confrontation during the course of season.
Bernthal stated in an interview that The Punisher will be first introduced as an antagonist of sorts, but he will not be a full fledge villain throughout most of the show. Bernthal explained that he never took the character as both the hero and bad guy, and tries to get in touch with how Frank Castle is in the comics. What he liked about The Punisher is that he was bold enough to give his version of the character in a 100 percent in one direction and another and then go back to another. Bernthal added that he does not want to spoon feed what the character is for the audiences and cited "The Punisher MAX" series as his inspirations, IGN reported.
As for Elektra, Young decribed her character as a "sociopath" in "Daredevil" season 2 as she thinks the whole world is a huge game to her, like chess and gets what she wants. She explained that Elektra in the show will do whatever it takes to achieve her goals, even if she need to kill people for it.
Young added that the show will feature different layers of Elektra's personality giving her a sense of depth with her cold personality being dominant. She stated that Elektra is not a bad person, but is not also a good one in a way, Screenrant reported.
Elektra in season 2 will be one of Matt Murdock's old flame from his college days and she will be bringing a huge gap in Matt's relationship with Karen Paige (Deborah Ann Wall). Her presents in Hell's Kitchen could also bring the Hand back in the city since she was a member of the group in the comics.
There rivals, the Chase will also likely make their way into the city as Stick (Scott Glenn) will be returning to the show.
"Daredevil" season will premier on March 18 on Netflix.
