Feb. 21 will see Samsung introducing two new smartphones at a press event. A still of Galaxy S7 already leaked and now Galaxy S7 Edge has been unveiled alongside a benchmarking application on its display.
Since the Korean tech giant Samsung does not like seeing its next-gen handsets, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, making headlines daily, the smartphones will be launched on Feb. 21.
An image of Samsung Galaxy S7, according to Review DAO, made its way online and gave a glimpse of the handset's back case and a new 12MP main BRITECELL camera. Furthermore, the smartphone could also sport an "Always On Display," a feature that draws very little power and show the time and notifications on the screen without turning on the handset.
The smartphone is similar in design with its precursor, Galaxy S6, although its camera no longer sticks out and appears practically flush.
However, the company's other flagship, Galaxy S7 Edge, has more in common with the larger Galaxy S6 Edge+ as opposed to the standard S6 Edge, which came out together with S6 in 2015.
As opposed to using the same 5.1-inch screen display used on the 2015 S6 Edge and the upcoming S7, the company has instead decided to pack in a 5.5-inch dual curved edge display. The iteration is a move to compete with Apple's current iPhone 6s Plus and the upcoming iPhone 7 Plus that will feature a 6.6-inch screen.
The AnTuTu benchmark app reveals the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge's model number, SM-G9350, and score, 134704. The image as well shows an email notification on the left side of the edge screen and the gadget is wrapped in a black casing.
With regard to specs, the galaxy S7 Edge is rumored to feature a 5.5-inch 2560 × 1440 Quad HD Super AMOLED dual curved edge display, powered by either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC of Samsung Exynos 8890 chip based on the region, according to Sam Mobile.
The smartphone will sport a 4GB of RAM, 32Gb or 64GB internal memory, and microSD expansion slot. Besides the 12MP BRITECELL rear camera, the Galaxy S7 Edge will ship with a 5MP front camera for selfies and video chat. Furthermore, the handset has a large 3500mAh battery and a waterproof and dust-resistant case.
