Gennady Golovkin has labeled the bout between Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Amir Khan a "business fight" because of the Mexican's sheer advantage in weight and power. But Golovkin's criticism could be a hint of envy, with Canelo vs Khan getting more attention than the Kazakh's fight against Dominic Wade in April.

According to Jeff Aranow of Boxing News24, Golovkin's criticism at Alvarez's bout against Khan may imply that the undefeated Kazakh is "envious" about the attention his rivals are getting.

"Golovkin sounds envious of Canelo for him getting the attention from the boxing world with his fight against Khan. Fans are interested in the Canelo-Khan fight and it's good for the sport," Aranow wrote.

Alvarez revealed recently that the upcoming bout Khan is the "biggest fight that can be made" at the moment of choosing the Mexican's next opponent. The 25-year-old Canelo was linked with fighters like Willie Monroe Jr and Gabriel Rosado, but none of the mentioned boxers would likely be a pay-per-view success.

"Obviously HBO was involved, along with Golden Boy and managers and that [Khan] was the name they came up with," Alvarez said, reports Boxing Scene. "That is the biggest fight that can be made right now."

Meanwhile, Golovkin, who holds the IBF, IBO, and WBA middleweight title belts, is set to fight Wade on Apr. 23 at the Forum in Los Angeles, California, but it seems boxing fans are more interested in watching Canelo vs Khan despite a possible mismatch in weight and power.

Matt Jones of Bleacher Report pointed out in his story that it would be difficult to disagree with Golovkin's notion that the Canelo-Khan bout "makes a lot of business sense."

Jones noted that Khan has only fought once last year and will jump from welterweight to middleweight for the first in his boxing career, which technically makes it a mismatch for the British fighter.

Unlike Canelo vs Khan, GGG will go against a true middleweight in Wade, although their upcoming showdown was not really a choice the Kazakh made as it was mandated by the IBF.
