"Angel" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" alum Charisma Carpenter recently made her debut in the NBC drama series "Chicago P.D." in the episode titled "A Night Owl," which aired on Feb. 17. Her character is likely to be put Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) and Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush) to the test.

"It's definitely a test to the Halstead and Lindsay relationship," Entertainment Weekly quoted executive producer Matt Olmstead as saying. He was referring to Carpenter's character named Brianna Logan.

Carpenter's character is a lawyer-turned-marijuana dispensary owner working with Halstead. She will not be seen in the "Chicago P.D."  Season 3 episode 16 titled "The Cases that Need to be Solved," which will air on Feb. 24, but she is expected to appear in multiple episodes of the NBC drama series, TV Line has learned.

"The Americans" actor Richard Thomas appeared as a guest star in "A Night Owl." The two-time Golden Globes nominee played Adam Ames, a college professor trying to smuggle ten kilos of heroin to Canada.

Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) was called up to the Intelligence unit after her bust of Thomas's character. On the other hand, Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) helped out Sean Roman (Brian Geraghty) to become a Field Training Officer while Mouse set up Halstead with a job at a medical marijuana clinic.

In "The Cases that Need to be Solved," the police are set to investigate an execution-style murder of a boy. It is likely to be connected to another shooting and it leads officers and the community members to gather for a candlelight vigil.

Recently, two teenagers from Batavia in Kane County, Illinois, shared their experience filing scenes for "The Cases that Need to be Solved." Siblings Alyssa Jacobsen, 16, and Evan Jacobsen, 13, helped film a scene that features Detective Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda).

In the scene, Dawson is hosting a birthday party for his son Diego, which was attended by Alyssa and Evan's characters. Evan told Kane County Chronicle that it was "kind of weird" but was "pretty fun" and the actor who played Diego was "really cool."
