"Chicago P.D." season 3, episode 16 will see the team investigating the shooting of a nine-year-old boy.
NBC just dropped a photo from the set of "The Case that Needs to be Solved," and it showed how the mother of the young boy is being consoled by the members of the team.
In front of her lies the body of her dead son who is covered in a blue cloth.
According to Yahoo, the young boy was executed in gang territory, and the team has to find out what exactly happened to him, as well as who killed him.
However, the only witnesses present during the incident like the neighbors and other bystanders do not want to talk about the shooting for fear that they might also be involved.
To add to the mystery, the episode synopsis also revealed that the father of the young boy also has a record with the gang.
The episode will also see another shooting incident, but this one will be less fatal than the first.
In one of the scenes, the team, as well as the firefighters and other residents will gather together to hold a vigil for the nine-year-old boy.
Meanwhile, a teaser for episode 16 showed Hank Volght (Jason Beghe) talking to his team, as well as the boy's mom about the case.
"We solved the case that need to be solved," he said.
"This case needs to be solved," he continued.
The episode will also focus on black rights wherein one character will ask the team whether or not black lives matter to them.
"They will pay for his crimes," Hank said in the next scene.
"Next Wednesday, an unspeakable tragedy consumes the entire city. And the only thing standing between justice and total anarchy are the men and women of Chicago P.D. A must see 'Chicago P.D.' next Wednesday on NBC," the voice over in the clip could be heard saying.
The series also stars Sophia Bush as Erin Lindsay, Jesse Lee Soffer as Jay Halstead, Jon Seda as Antonio Dawson and more.
"Chicago P.D." airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
