The latest news regarding Motorolla's Android 6.0 Marshmallow update point out that the company has just started rolling out the update for Moto G (second Gen) users in the United States.
This follows the company's earlier roll out for the same devices in India and Brazil where the market is slightly larger than that of the U.S., GSM Arena reported. The company had previously announced that the handsets that received the Android 5.0 Lollipop update would never get the Android 5.1 update and as an alternative, they would directly receive the Marshmallow.
Since then, Motorolla has recently released the LTE version in the United States and only 3G-enabled models will receive the update. It also goes that those who already own the LTE version but had procured them outside the US will not get the update in US borders.
So far, Motorolla has released the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Moto G (Third Gen), Moto X Play, Moto X Style and the Moto G Turbo edition. Even as this may not please some device owners, most of Motorolla's devices are set to receive the latest updates with the exception of some few first editions of the Mott G and Moto E versions.
According to Android Police, Phones with the Android Marshmallow OS will have new features like App standby, Adoptable Storage via microSD cards, full app permissions, edited volume controls, Doze mode, Now on Tap and more. Additionally, Motorola has spiced up the topic by making a few enhancements for Moto Assist and removal of Motorola alert and Motorola migrate. In case users should be interested in using Motorola alert after upgrading to Marshmallow, it can still be accessed from the Google Play store.
The upcoming Marshmallow update to Motorola devices is not carrier-explicit, and users can access notifications from their phones in order to receive the upgrades. After receiving the notification, the users can then follow the following steps:
- Select "Yes, I'm in".
- After downloading, select "Install now".
- After installation, the phone restarts automatically.
- The phone will now be updated with Android 6.0.
For a successful installation of the update, Motorola recommends that the battery in user's phone be at least 50% charged, and they get connected to a Wi-Fi network.
