Jeremy Lin, struggling to replicate his performance during the first half of the season, has decided to lean on the power of prayer, invoking his dearest fans to pray earnestly for him as he looks to put an end on his shooting woes this season.
Lin, known for being a devoted Christian, sent a prayer request to his fans, asking them to pray for several things, including a much better shooting form for the remainder of the season.
"Please pray for me as recently I have been frustrated with my jump shot and overall performance. The new shooting form has been one of the most frustrating things of my career. I know it will pay-off in the long run, but going through the adjustment process has been harder than I anticipated, so prayer for the right mindset, great muscle memory and a pure heart that shoots/plays solely for God's approval would be greatly appreciated."
The 27-year old Lin is averaging 11.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 26 minutes per contest for the Hornets this season. While he has become one of the most versatile players coming off the bench for Steve Clifford, his shooting slump has dragged down his effectiveness significantly.
The former Harvard standout is shooting 32 percent from beyond the arc, just a year after setting a career high 37 percent from rainbow territory.
As what Lin mentioned, the modification in his shooting mechanics plays a big role in his shooting slump, although he remains optimistic he can find a breakthrough before the season ends.
The arrival of Courtney Lee has also caused more troubles for Lin, who saw his minutes and role diminished significantly over the past few weeks.
Lin, who can opt out from the second year of his deal with the Hornets, must perform as good or even better than what he had done during the first half of the season when his name emerged as one of the front-runners for the Sixth Man of the Year in order for him to salvage a pay-hike this offseason.
