Kristen Bell, the voice behind Princess Anna in Disney's phenomenal hit anime film "Frozen," recently disclosed that a sequel, "Frozen 2," is already in the works. This is indeed music to everyone who sang along with Princess Anna and Queen Elsa while watching the movie.
"They've just written it and they're still doing tweaks, but I think we should be recording this month," Bell said during a recent interview with E! News. According to the American actress and singer, the super success of "Frozen" is primarily responsible for the delay of "Frozen 2's" official announcement.
"Frozen" earned over $1 billion from box office across the globe, in addition to two Academy Awards. Moreover, the movie was also made into a Broadway musical. Even three years after its release, "Frozen" continues to win the hearts of moviegoers across the globe. Therefore, the producers wanted to make a sequel that would be more engrossing as well as earn them more revenues.
Substantiating this, Bell said this is the precise reason why it took so long for the studio to make an announcement that they are going to make the sequel. She further said that usually when the first movie is hugely successful, people want to make a second one. "It took them a while because they wanted to figure out what story they needed to tell and what would be important and engaging and I think they found it," Bell said.
While Bell, who is currently promoting her new movie "The Boss," said she was excited about commencing recording for "Frozen 2," rumors regarding the sequel have always been there. In fact, the movie has been so dear to moviegoers that many even began speculating about the storyline of the upcoming venture.
In March 2015, Disney revealed its plans to produce a sequel to "Frozen" at the Walt Disney Co.'s annual shareholders meeting in San Francisco. The studio then said that Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, directors of "Frozen," were developing the project along with producer Peter Del Vecho for Walt Disney Animation Studios, Variety reported. The announcement was made by John Lasseter, CEO of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios, along with Disney chief Bob Iger and Josh Gad, who was the voice behind Olaf in "Frozen."
As of now, no details regarding the cast, storyline or release date have been announced by Disney.
