Female Korean celebrities who were linked to prostitution have stepped up to deny the allegations that they are involved in high-scale sex trade. Each of the artists and their respective agencies have also vowed to take legal action against those who spread such malicious and damaging rumors.
The KPOP industry has been recently rocked by a series of prostitution scandals after two singers and three artists were called in for questioning. The investigation started when a pimp, who was freed from jail in June 2015 for pimping actress and former beauty queen Sung Hyun Ah, was arrested again for the same offense, The Star reported.
The identities of the female celebrities were not divulged, but various sources dropped some names which they claimed are the individuals being referred to in the blind item reports. Although the women have already been summoned for investigation, the names were never publicly confirmed by the authorities.
But it is different on social media because there are people who posted at least 10 names of celebrities who are allegedly receiving high sums of money in exchange for sexual services. It was said that the services are being offered to rich businessmen in Korea and the U.S.
According to the rumors which are fast spreading on the web, the list of high-class prostitutes includes KPOP idol group members - Wonder Girls' Yubin, Dal Shabet's Subin, Spica's Yang Ji Won - and three actresses namely Shin Se Kyung, Kang So Ra and Nam Bo Ra. By depicting them as sex trade workers, their reputations have been tainted so with the aid of their agencies, they will be taking legal actions to stop the false accusations.
Will Entertainment, Nam and Kang's agency, released a statement to deny the news saying, "The rumors online surrounding our artists are entirely groundless. We will no longer close our eyes to the indiscriminate propagation and reproduction of these rumors by various tabloids."
On its official Facebook page, Namoo Actors also post its statement on behalf of Shin. The agency said that the vicious rumors which are all lies are not just hurting the actress but her friends and family too, and for this, they will not let it slide and will run after the perpetrators. Lastly, Yubin's management agency, JYP Entertainment, also denied the rumors and said, "We will do our best to find those responsible for and make them pay the price."
