The latest rumors on the Nintendo NX indicate that the gaming machine to soon come out will indeed pack a new controller but not the futuristic oval gamepad seen in the past weeks. Instead, the on board accessory will deploy with the usual Nintendo hardware signature, even resembling that of the NEC and Wii U controllers.
A new report by Geek.com picked up a Reddit post of an unidentified developer, presumably with access on Nintendo gaming development details. There were no images shared but the Redditor apparently confirmed that the NX controller that previously leaked was fake.
"The person in question confirms that all of the leaks of Nintendo's NX controller were indeed fake, and says the controller he is working with is nothing like the ones seen online," the report said.
It is more realistic for Nintendo fans to expect an NX controller that is rectangular in shape with familiar design and control keys configuration. It will rock a scroll wheel, shoulder buttons and a standard audio jack that will located at the bottom edge of the device.
The same source provided drawings to support the latest claims.
The dev also revealed that the NX controller will have wireless functions and stand-alone features such as playing certain games but not the titles specifically designed for the Nintendo NX. Most definitely, the controller will not replace the 3DS and the Wii U Gamepad, the report said.
Even as the details provided are not too substantial, the developer echoed the earlier hints from Nintendo that the NX is fresh concept and will be vastly different from the Wii U or the 3DS. It is understood as well that backward compatibility is not among the new features included with the upcoming console.
"The dev believes making games from (the Wii U and original Wii) work on the NX will be difficult," Geek.com reported.
While speculations are rife that the Nintendo NX on release date will deliver increased firepower from those seen in the Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One, the same report said that the gaming device could unbox bearing an entirely different name. The developer revealed that the NX is but a working codename of the machine.
