The fifth installment of 343 Industries and Microsoft Studio's "Halo" series, "Halo 5: Guardians," is one of the most highly anticipated game titles in 2015. Fortunately, for gamers who have waited for its release, "Halo 5" did not disappoint.
Since its release, "Halo 5: Guardians" has received highly favorable reviews from multiple aggregator sites. It currently holds 84.21 percent on GameRankings and 84/100 on Metacritic. Moreover, several game reviewers have praised "Halo 5." According to Arthur Gies from Polygon, it was great to see 343 Industries play to the franchise's strengths. Following the underwhelming reception to "Halo 4's The Master Chief Collection," "Halo 5" was a welcome addition to the series.
"The studio has brought Halo's mechanics kicking and screaming into the modern era, while providing the most bombastic, co-op-driven campaign in Halo history," quipped by Gies.
Because of the positive response to the game, many gamers are wondering if "Halo 5" would be released for PC. Recently, Microsoft execs spoke out about "Halo 5: Guardians" PC release issue once and for all.
During this year's Microsoft Build Conference, as reported by Attack of the Fanboy, Phil Spencer, the head of Microsoft's Xbox division, explained that "Halo 5" was released as a console game. If Microsoft wanted to release the title for PC as well, they would have drafted plans for it when the game was being developed.
"Halo 5 was shipped as a console game. If we're going to [bring Halo to PC] moving forward then we're going to plan on both platforms," Spencer stated.
Spencer was quick to clarify that there is still a possibility that "Halo 5" for PC would be developed. However, he urges "Halo 5: Guardians" gamers to turn their attention to what the company has in store for them moving forward.
"It doesn't mean there's nothing [in Halo 5] that could ever end up on PC, but I'd much rather look forward with what our plans are," Spencer added.
"Halo 5: Guardians," which was released in October 2015, is a first-person shooter game that earned $500 million during the first week of its release. "Halo 5: Guardians" have since won several awards including the Game Revolution's Best Multiplayer Game and the Best Shooter Game.
