Val Kilmer recently started bleeding from the throat and was rushed to a hospital for a throat tumor surgery, TMZ has learned.
Paramedics rushed to Kilmer's Malibu home in the evening of Jan. 26, Monday, after somebody called 911 and reported the bleeding, law enforcement sources told the publication. He was taken to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica, where doctors performed surgery.
Currently, Kilmer is recovering and the family members have reportedly been upset because they feel the 55-year-old Oscar-winning actor has ignored the problem and let it get worse.
When he was in a small courts claim over a dispute with a former landlord in October 2014, Kilmer told the judge his tongue was swollen so he was not able to speak.
Kilmer is set to appear in films "Mark Twain And Mary Baker Eddy," "The Unknown Son" and an untitled Terrence Malick project.
Meanwhile, Kilmer's "Top Gun" co-actor Tom Cruise is currently featured in a Sundance film titled "Going Clear: Scientology And The Prison Of Belief."
In 2014, Cruise was reportedly getting help from Elizabeth Chambers, the wife of "The Lone Star" actor Armie Hammer, to find a new wife. Divorced from Katie Holmes, Cruise is reportedly looking for a new girl and he appreciates Chambers' efforts, Radar Online has learned.
Cruise met Hammer through director Guy Ritchie, who will helm the 2015 film "The Man From U.N.C.L.E," which stars Hammer. At the time, Cruise was considering a role in the movie. Although Cruise will not be playing a role in the film, he remained friends with Hammer and his wife.
