Rumors are rife that Apple may be planning to discontinue the 11-inch MacBook Air and MacBook Pro devices. The 12-inch MacBook 2016 may also come in 13-inch and 15-inch variants.
According to 9to5 Mac, Apple may remove the smaller 11-inch models of MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, as it plans to introduce newer models. The 12-inch MacBook was released last year and it may soon become the model with the smallest screen size.
Also, there are reports that Apple is very pleased with the response that 12-inch MacBook got and hence, may introduce two newer variants, which have a screen size of 13 inches and 15 inches. There are also rumors that the MacBook Air lineup may be on its last legs.
Regardng the release date, the MacBook Air 2016 and MacBook Pro 2016 will most likely be launched at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC.) This event will be taking place from June 13-17, 2016. However, it should be regarded as a rumoured date for the launch of these products till Apple makes any official statement.
The MacBook Air 2016 is expected to be 13 inches in size, and come in CPU options like Core M3-6Y30, Core M7-6Y75, along with Core M5-6Y54. These cores will work at 2.20 GHz, 3.10 GHz, and 2.70 GHz respectively.
On the other hand, there may be a 15-inch variant of this device, which will be tech giant's first attempt at launching a bigger MacBook Air. Both of these models are expected to be powered with the latest Skylake chips set. The devices will also house the Thunderbolt 3 port along with USB Type-C connection port for faster charging of the device.
Meanwhile, the products, which were launched at the March 21, event include the 4-inch iPhone SE. This is a new device from Apple and can be regarded as a mixture of the two Apple devices, the iPhone 6S in terms of the hardware and the iPhone 5 in terms of style and design, according to another report by 9to5 Mac. It is aimed for the budget phone lovers and for all those people, who like small screens.
