Rumors abound that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release is delayed again and it will now launch in early 2017. This could imply a good run in the marker for MacBook Pro 2016 and MacBook Air 2016.
The delay in the launch is being attributed to the wait for Intel Kaby Lake processor, according to Anand Tech. This latest processor from Intel is due to arrive by end of 2016. The said processor is expected to enhance the battery life of the device dramatically, along with other notable features.
Earlier this year, there were rumors that the much-anticipated device may launch in mid-2016. Experts believe that a mid-2016 release was likely for the device in order to compete right away with the new Apple MacBook Pro 2016, which is also expected to be released in June.
On the other hand, as the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 was announced in October 2015, so fans expected that Microsoft may launch its successor around the same time. However, both these expected release dates are now irrelevant, as the launch of the much-anticipated device is now delayed.
As far as the speculated features are concerned, it will come with improved battery life, as it is mainly designed for business use. Also, the Surface Pro 4's battery lasts for about five to six hours, when used continuously, a feature which demands improvement.
It is reported that Microsoft will include the Type Cover as a bundle in the Surface Pro 5, which will fully optimize the device. Currently, the Type Cover keyboard is sold separately and not as a bundle, a feature which is expected to change with the release of the upcoming device.
Meanwhile, Microsoft also filed a patent of rechargeable stylus, which is expected to be made available with the latest model of Surface Pro. The said Surface Pen will come with an on/off button, a built-in rechargeable battery, an indicator light, along with charging terminals.
The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 may sport a scree resolution of 4K, and come with a display screen size of 13.3 inches. The price of the device is expected to fall between $999 and $1,599. It will also have the latest operating system - Windows 10 "Redstone 2," according to Zdnet.
