"Fast & Furious" star Vin Diesel made his fans choke when he shared a poster of the franchise's eighth film and the first one without Paul Walker.
"New Roads Ahead," the "Furious 8" reads the poster that Diesel shared on Facebook in which he is looking sombre into the distance. It is still unclear whether the movie's title has changed yet again since it was previously known as "Fast 8."
The poster heading seemingly picks up from where the franchise left off in "Furious 7," whose tagline was "One last ride." The poster makes the fans believe that the actor still longs for his co-star and good friend Walker, who had died tragically in a car accident in November 2013 as "Furious 7" was nearing the end of production. The late actor's brothers, Cody and Caleb, had to step in as his body double to film its final scenes.
Earlier, Diesel has assured fans that "Furious 8" will have a lot more to look forward to since it will be a part of an entire trilogy. While the recently-released high-on-emotions poster confirmed the release date of the upcoming instament as April 14, 2017, the ninth and tenth sequel will be released on April 19, 2019 and April 2, 2021 respectively, E! News reported.
Diesel, who has starred in six of the seven films is returning to "Furious 8" as Dominic Toretto with other franchise regulars Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Elsa Pataky and Lucas Black, who all will be reprising their roles as the street racers-turned-international criminals. Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson and Kurt Russell are expected to return as well who will be joined by new cast members, Charlize Theron and Scott Eastwood.
Apart from the trilogy, Universal is also planning to further expand the franchise by launching "Fast & Furious" prequels and spin-offs. The upcoming instalment will be directed by F. Gary Gray of "Straight Outta Compton" fame.
Meanwhile, the rumors of Eastwood joining the cast of the upcoming movie to replace Paul has seemingly irked Rodriguez. Slamming the speculations that the "The Longest Ride" actor has been included in the upcoming movie to fill the void left after Paul by playing Brian O' Connor's long lost brother, the actress said that she is convinced that no one in the world can fill that place, TMZ reported.
