Rising to fame for her role in TV drama "The Heirs" back in 2013, Korean-American singer Krystal has been well regarded for her popularity in mainland China. The spoiled yet good-hearted and wealthy character she played on the show helped establish Krystal's image, which has led to increased acting opportunities in the region.
On April 27, Wednesday, Krystal made an appearance in China during a cosmetics brand event and shares her plans on expanding her career in China.
"I am currently filming a movie in Beijing and will soon start a drama, as well," Soompi quoted Krystal as saying to the group of reporters. "I think I will be more active in China and visit more often. Please cheer me on, and I hope you look forward to what I have in store."
Krystal's upcoming film, "Kite Flying," has caused quite a stir among Chinese and South Korean audiences in recent months because she is starring in it with EXO's Lay. "Kite Flying" will be Krystal's first film role in a Chinese work.
According to previous reports, the two stars was cast due to their exceptional dancing skills that have been trained through years of performing as k-pop idols. The movie revolves around a man and a woman who both achieve success in career and love through dancing.
The film will be directed by Seong Si Heup with an intended release in China sooner or later in the second half of the year, Kpop Fighting has learned. Apart from that, the 21-year-old idol will also star as the heroine female lead in another Chinese romance-drama called "Graduation Season," which depict the struggles of the fresh graduates who enter the fashion industry.
In other news, Krystal was recently confirmed to be in a relationship with EXO's Kai. They first caught people's attention when the Korean media outlet, Dispatch, posted several photos of Krystal and Kai, stepping out of a car on Feb. 17 in Los Angeles, California.
Since then, dating rumors and speculations has been rife amongst Krystal and Kai. Putting an end to the rumors, S.M. Entertainment confirmed Krystal and Kai's budding romance, stating that the couple started as friends in 2007, and recently developed romantic feelings towards each other.
