The "Pokémon Cry Translator," which was proposed for "Pokémon X and Y," but later scrapped off, is now prospected to get included in "Pokémon Sun and Moon" for 3DS.
Game Freak's Junichi Masuda had revealed in an interview with Nintendo Life back in 2013 that the "Pokémon Cry Translator" had been dropped for "Pokémon X and Y" because of some features that did not match up with the game. One of these features highlighted the large 600-creature roster of the game.
As the mechanics of the game required, the creators would have to input a very large amount of text for each "Pokémon" if the translating machine was to be a part of the game. Besides this, it could also have been affected by the "Pokémon Nature" system, as developers put it.
According to them, the system would have to be expanded 25 times bigger in order to correctly sculpt a particular "Pokémon's" personality and natural instincts, bringing out a pet like a monster. This would have taken much time and resulted in "complex" game development, producing a different metagame for "Pokémon.".
Nevertheless, the latest rumors are pointing out at an imminent inclusion of the "Pokémon Cry Translator" in the upcoming "Pokémon Sun and Moon" games for the 3DS. If implemented, players will no longer have to stick to the usual competitive "Pokémon" battles. Instead, they will be considered as pet owners.
The translating feature could make "Pokémon Sun and Moon" reach a major milestone of the entire "Pokémon" Generation. According to Game and Guide, Masuda seems to be looking forward to instigating this idea in a future title, with "Pokémon Sun and Moon" being the most thinkable titles.
If the inclusion is to be considered, then fans can expect a longer development time, owing to the huge size of the system. Also, apart from the "Pokémon Cry Translator, "the development team will include other features like Mega Evolutions, Pokémon creatures, as well as new game content.
Meanwhile, "Pokémon Sun and Moon" are slated for a holiday release, as listed on the official "Pokémon" site.
