While the "Descendants of the Sun" spin-off has not been confirmed, there are whispers that the sequel of the South Korean hit series may focus not on Song Joong Ki's character, but on his second-in-command and military couple Seo Dae Young and Yoo Myung Joo.
In the conclusion of the TV series, Seo Dae Young finally got Myung Joo's father's permission who was also the commander of the military force. Rumors claimed that the season 2 of the drama will narrate Seo Dae Young and Yoo Myung Joo's relationship or marriage.
Moreover, actor Jin Goo seemed to be interested in doing the project if it gets a green light from producers and directors. In his interview with High Cut magazine, according to International Business Times, Goo expressed his feelings about working in the record breaking series.
"If the viewers would allow it, I'd be very thankful. In my 14 years of acting, I've never filmed for something like a sequel and so I do want to experience it," Goo said.
This fueled other rumors that army captain Yoo Si Jin, also known as Big Boss, will not be returning to the sequel of "Descendants of the Sun."
In one of his interviews, Joong Ki said that while he is grateful with the support and attention that fans gave the show and the actors, his stardom has affected his privacy. His family and ex-girlfriend were dragged by the media for various stories.
"To say that these are things I need to endure for the sake of celebrity... that's sad," The Straits Times quoted the actor as saying.
"Descendants of the Sun" is a phenomenal drama series in the history of South Korea and broke the records and toppings both television and music charts.
Meanwhile, there is no official confirmation yet that "Descendants of the Sun" spin-off is really happening.
