Bentley Bentayga owners can now use their Apple Watch to control several features of their cars through the smartwatch app which allows them to control the climate and massage systems of the vehicle.
For the sake of convenience, the Bentley Bentayga app for the Apple Watch gives users several controls for their car. While it does not allow them to drive the vehicle through the small smartwatch interface, it gives better and faster access to the infotainment systems.
The car has on-board climate and entertainment systems that is controlled and tweaked by default using the dashboard at the front. For someone who can afford $230,000 for the car, a little $700 for the smartwatch would not be a problem for added control and wow factors.
Apple Watch and Bentley Bentayga owners will be able to control the ventilation of the seats and to turn on the massagers through the app. It is particularly useful for passengers who don't want to be bothered to ask the driver or to fiddle through the buttons in the dashboard.
Owners can just synchronize their Apple Watch with the SUV's Touch Screen Remote System, according to SlashGear. After syncing, the car's on-board systems can be controlled on the smartwatch.
"The Bentayga is technologically advanced and combines this with luxury in a way only Bentley can achieve. This new Apple Watch connectivity is another example of how we are constantly innovating in order to enhance the customer experience," said Bentley Director of Electrical and Electronics Dan Whittaker.
Besides the Apple Watch connectivity, the Bentley Bentayga also has other sorts of techy features such as the 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, the 8-inch touch screen and the bass-pumping 1950-watt amplifier. The car also has built-in navigation to lessen the time of finding street names and landmarks, according to PC Mag.
Besides Bentley, Ford and Tesla also has smartwatch apps for their cars. Ford car owners can unlock their vehicle through the smartwatch app.
The Apple Watch is really marketed at people with higher incomes and the new app for the Bentley Bentayga just proves it. Convenience can really come with a steep price tag.
