Siri creators unveiled that they will release an application that could replace Siri.
According to early studies, Apple AI Siri is utilized by Apple users once a month at least 90 percent of the time. Since Siri's unveiling in 2011, usage and specification surrounding Siri has only improved. It has been almost five years since the AI made its way to the iPhone 4S, now its creators have recently announced that they are close to unveiling an AI that could replace Siri.
According to Gizmodo, creators of Siri and founding members of Siri Inc., Dag Kittlaus and Adam Cheyer, are about to showcase their latest innovation - the AI names Viv. Viv reportedly would be more useful and more technologically advanced than its predecessors - Siri, Cortana or Alexa. According to the same publication, the upcoming AI would be infinitely more intuitive. Interactions with Viv may almost feel like interacting with a real human assistant.
The Washington Post has since interviewed Kittlaus and Cheyer regarding their upcoming announcement. According to the Siri's innovators, the technology was heavily influenced by how human beings interact and hold a conversation.
"It's about taking the way that humans have naturally interacted with each other for thousands of years and applying that to the way they interact with services. Everyone knows how to hold a conversation," explained Kittlaus.
At present, according to Viv executives, Google and Facebook have made offers to buy Viv. At this point, however, Kittlaus and Cheyer remain coy about their plans for Viv. Kittlaus claims that they have yet to decide on whether to sell their new AI or introduce it to the market on their own. It is said that they are more concerned about finishing and perfecting their latest AI project Viv.
"Our goal is ubiquity. There's no way to predict where that goes except to say we'll pick the path that gets us there. Either way, we will finish the job," quipped Kittlaus by in an interview with The Washington Post.
Siri was officially launched as part of the specifications of Apple's iPhone s in October 2011. The AI, which was developed by Siri Inc., was initially intended to be launched for Android and Blackberry operating systems; however, upon Apple's acquisition of the AI application, all efforts for non-iOS versions were halted.
